Folsom Boulevard, J Street Roadwork

This month, expect some delays along Folsom Boulevard (between 34th and 47th Streets) and J Street (between 42nd and 56th Streets). Both avenues are undergoing conversions from two lanes each way to one lane with a two-way turn lane and widened bike lanes. The single lane roads are intended to reduce the volume of traffic, as well as reduce the speed of cars. As a result, these stretches of road should be safer and friendlier to bikes and pedestrians.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-August and should last about four weeks. During this time, no complete closures are expected; there will always be one lane open in each direction. For more information, call (916) 808-8364.
