1344 39th Street in East Sacramento Just Sold

I met some wonderful clients many months back while holding my listing at 1210 40th Street open. Yesterday I was able to hand off the keys to 1344 39th Street to them.

They had a very specific search that included new construction, a yard large enough for a pool and a two car garage, all in East Sac. In any other neighborhood this would have been an easier search, but East Sac doesn't see this combination very often.

The listing at 1344 39th Street fit the wish list, but the asking price was a bit much. After lots of negotiations we got it down to an acceptable level and just closed the deal.

Tree Planting and Garden Care Day

September 28 has been designated International Green Day of Service. So, in honor of that, the Sacramento Tree Foundation is organizing a tree planting session at the A. Warren McClaskey Adult Education School (on J Street between 51st and 52nd), which offers classes for disabled adults.

The goal is to plant trees to shade the parking lot and to fix up the campus garden. If you have gloves, you are encouraged to bring them. Otherwise, all training and materials are going to be provided by the Sacramento Tree Foundation. So all you really need to bring is yourself and a bit of enthusiasm (and some water).

Work is planned from 9am to 12 noon. For more information, to register as a volunteer and fill out the volunteer release form, visit www.sactree.com or call (916) 974-4322.

Movement as Medicine

Sponsored by Body Joy and Impact A Village, the Movement as Medicine event this coming Saturday, September 28 is designed for yoga experts, novices or, really, anyone looking to improve their health and themselves. After all, more and more studies are clinically proving the benefits of yoga--and movement in general--both physically and mentally.

That's why the overall focus of the day's event is on "creative movement." You will observe (and participate in if you're so moved) free-form dance, gentle yoga, live drumming and expressive art. This annual event will take place from 4-6:30pm at the Clunie Community Center in McKinley Park. Proceeds will benefit the Dance Movement Therapy program at Sutter Cancer Center in Sacramento and the Sacramento 5Rhythms Dance Scholarship program.

Ticket prices are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, with discounts available for families, students and the financially challenged. Tickets for children under 15 years are $5. For more information about the Movement as Medicine philosophy and to buy tickets in advance, visit movementasmedicine.net.

Participants will meet up at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center parking lot at 6pm, with the tour running until about 7:30. For more information, and to sign up for the tour--and to learn about any other volunteer opportunities with the Sacramento Tree Foundation--visit www.sactree.com or call (916) 974-4322.

35th Annual Great American River Clean Up

This coming Saturday, September 21, the American River Parkway Foundation will be conducting the 35th Annual Great American River Clean Up. From 9am to 12 noon, volunteers will walk the shores picking up, bagging and hauling away debris. While of course unsightly, garbage along the river can also harbor pollutants that are potentially dangerous to wildlife and recreational users, both along the river as well as in the ocean into which it flows. So getting the litter removed is of the utmost importance.

Participants in this worthy cause will receive bags, gloves, water, snacks and a thank you gift. For more information about the event and to register, visit the American River Parkway Foundation site at www.arpf.org/garcu.shtml, or call (916) 486-2773.

Just Listed 722 46th Street For Sale

I just listed a wonderful home in East Sacramento!

This cute 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom home is very spacious with 1337 square feet. There is plenty of charm with lots of leaded glass windows in this brick Tudor home.

There have been plenty of updates to ensure worry free living for years to come. There was new exterior paint and HVAC system installed in 2009, a 50 year shingle roof and new bathrooms in 1999.

The master suite has vaulted ceilings, a full bath, custom walk in closet and French doors leading to the large, professionally landscaped oasis of a yard.

Want more? How about gleaming hardwood floors, gas fireplace, top down/bottom up blinds, a canopy of trees and a gated driveway to an oversized garage with built-ins!

You can see the full details of this property on my real estate site.

Yoga Across America Sacramento Challenge

Practicing yoga is something that anyone can do and appreciate. It is at once empowering, energizing and transformative. Yoga Across America (YAA) seeks to get this message across to communities around the country to show that everyone can benefit, even including those in low income communities, homeless shelters and nursing homes. The Yoga Across America Challenge is part of this effort to bring yoga to everyone.

This Saturday, September 14, starting at 9am in McKinley Park, Team Sacramento will hold its own challenge. What once started out a few years as just a few people rolling out mats has now grown into the hundreds.

Any donations raised by this challenge will go right back into the YAA program to enable them to continue to share yoga with underserved communities. For more information about the organization and this event, visit www.yogaacrossamerica.org or email national challenge coordinator, Lyndsey, at lfryer@yogaacrossamerica.org. Namaste!
